Deliveries and Phone Messages for Students Students are not called from class to receive phone calls. Please make every attempt to make after school arrangements before your student leaves for school in the mornings. When necessary the office will take phone messages for students and attempt to have them delivered to the student prior to dismissal for the day. The office cannot guarantee that a student will receive phone messages or delivery notification.
Students are not allowed to make or receive cellular phone calls or text messages during school hours. Please review the Cell Phone policy.
Emergency Medical Forms Each student must have the required Emergency Medical Form on file in the school office. This form is included in the Registration Packet and must be completed each year in full before the enrollment process can be completed. No student will be enrolled at Hayden High School until this form is completed and signed.
Financial Obligations The full and prompt payment of all tuition and fees is required of all parents, based on their choice of payment options as explained on the Education Commitment Form. All students are required to be current in fulfilling their financial obligations at the end of each semester. Grades, transcripts or diplomas will not be released until all financial obligations are paid in full. Students will not be readmitted at the beginning of a new school year unless previous financial obligations are met. Students in dual enrollment programs are required to pay full tuition to Hayden. The tuition charge for a student enrolling or withdrawing from school at any time during the school year will be assessed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Financial aid is available on a need basis. Please contact the business office for more information.
Food Policy (Cafeteria) Lunch is served daily in the cafeteria in 25 minute periods from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Food and drink are not to be taken from the cafeteria to other parts of the building. Students are responsible for cleaning their tables after lunch. Trays must be returned to the kitchen and all trash must be deposited in the trash containers. Students are expected to display good behavior in the cafeteria. Lunches are closed to outside guests. Students are not allowed to leave campus for lunch. A student lunch is $2.50 which includes milk. Milk may also be purchased separately for 50¢.
The Hayden cafeteria utilizes point-of-sale terminals. Each student has an account that is accessed with their Student ID card. It is recommended that all students maintain a minimum of $10 in their account. Students are told when their account balance is low (under $10) and reminded that they need to bring money. They will not be able to purchase a meal on their account if the balance is too low. Balances cannot go below $0. It is expected that High School students be responsible for their own lunch account balance. Parents and/or students can check their account balance by contacting the Cafeteria Director at 272-5210 ext. 25 or email

Library/Media Center Visit the Library Page for information about the Library/Media Center.
Medications at School (Prescription and OTC (Over the Counter) Students taking any prescription medication must keep their medication in the office in the original container. No medication will be given that is not properly labeled. No medications should be kept in a student’s locker at any time. When a student is required by a physician to take medication on a regularly scheduled basis (i.e. Ritalin, Insulin, etc.), he/she must inform the school as soon as possible to establish a daily routine. Please inform the school of this in advance so a schedule arrangement can be made before school begins. The school reserves the right to refuse to administer OTC or prescription medication. Students with asthma are permitted and encouraged to carry inhalers with them during school hours and sports activities. Parents should fill out a “Permission for Self-Administration of Medication” form located in the school office for students who carry inhalers.
Students requiring any "over the counter" medications such as Tylenol, Advil, or any cold/allergy preparations should report to the office. Medication will then be dispensed under the direct supervision of the designated school personnel if parent/guardian permission is on file. Parents who prefer to provide specific medication for their child should bring it directly to the office in the original container, properly labeled, to be given as directed from the School Office.
The school reserves the right to refuse to administer OTC or prescription medication.
Physicals All students participating in a Physical Education class and/or extracurricular sports must have a current physical on file in the athletic office. The physical examination may not be taken earlier than May 1 preceding the school year for which it is applicable.
Policy Concerning Students Who Become Parents Even with the care and guidance of the Catholic family and school community, it may happen that a student becomes pregnant. At such a time, Hayden has a dual responsibility toward both the good of the student and the common good of the school.
First, the common good requires that Hayden continue to teach the values of chastity and to oppose anything that would encourage premarital teenage sexual activity. Hayden also promotes a respect for all life, especially that of the unborn, and stands strongly against abortion. In formulating local policy in these areas, administrators should be aware of the level of moral reasoning of the student body so as to make the policy an effective teaching tool.
In considering the good of the student involved, we follow the leadership and directives of the Catholic Church, which urges us, as an education and faith community, to provide an environment where a pregnant teenager can find support, compassion, and forgiveness. We further hope to offer teenagers who, unfortunately, have already experienced an abortion, a spirit of reconciliation. Therefore, we will not automatically expel such teenagers from the school community.
Hayden recognizes that the pregnant student or student father has made a mistake that cannot be undone, and seeks to offer support to carry the pregnancy to term. There is no attempt to discipline the student(s) for the purpose of punishing a moral offense. This is an issue between the students, their priest-confessors, and God. Care will be taken that there is no discrimination in the manner in which young men and young women are considered in this issue.
There is no encouragement for students involved to get married. Nevertheless, they are expected to assume responsibilities concomitant with the act of bringing a new human life into the world. This implies a change in their priorities. The pregnant girl should be caring for herself as a mother-to-be. The father should respond in a stance of support for the mother and the child. This involvement in the procreative process will require dropping out of some extra-curricular activities.
Each case of student pregnancy presents the possibility of unique circumstances that require specific interpretation. The Hayden administrators, Chaplain, and pastoral leader are responsible for making such interpretation and/or decision. This information will immediately be communicated to the Superintendent’s office.
In keeping with Archdiocesan policy, when establishing that a student is, or is to become, a parent, the President of Hayden will call a meeting involving the student, his/her parents, the school principal, and the school Chaplain, in order to discuss the situation. Following the meeting, the student will be placed upon a contract of support which will maximize the potential for them to remain a successful student at Hayden, as well as reinforce the need for them to assume the new responsibility that responsible parenthood demands. The stipulations of this contract are likely to include, but are not limited to:
- Regular meetings between the student and a school counselor, in order for the student to receive any extra academic or counseling support that they might need.
- Regular meetings between the student and the School Chaplain in order for the student to receive the support, compassion and forgiveness of the Catholic Church and the Hayden faith community.
- Agreement not to participate in any extra-curricular activities throughout the pregnancy, in order to care for the baby and the mother-to-be.
- Extra-curricular participation will depend on the submission and approval of a viable parenting plan.
- Agreement for the student to assist the school in teaching the value of chastity and to promote the position of students no engaging in pre-martial sexual activity, by agreeing not to stand for any elected position, not to bring the child to school events, and to ensure that any discussion of the issue be undertaken in a responsible manner.
Schedule Changes Schedule changes may be made only for sound academic reasons and must be done within the first eight days of the semester. A fee of $20 will be charged for each schedule change. You may pick up schedule change requests from the Academic Counseling Office. All schedule changes need the written approval of a parent.
A student may not receive credit for a course if he/she misses more than the first eight classes. Schedule changes after the final drop date (8 days after the beginning of the semester) will result in a WF (withdraw failing) on your transcript for the dropped courses.
Student Aides Seniors may serve as student aides during one or both semesters. The student must have a GPA of 3.5 or above and an outstanding discipline record. Applicants must be trustworthy, responsible, dependable and capable of assuming a variety of tasks. The student's performance will be graded and credit will be granted as in other classes. However, the grade issued will be Pass/Fail and will not be included in the computation of the student's cumulative grade average. Seniors submit applications for student aide to the administrator who assigns aides to teachers or other staff members. The final determination rests with the administration.
Switchboard/Telephone System The switchboard hours during regular school days are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. If you are calling to report an absence, tardy or appointment, please use the Attendance office direct line number, 272-0389. Please be patient when calling the Attendance Office. The attendance clerk tries to answer all calls but at times it is impossible especially early in the day. If your call goes to the attendance voice mail please leave a message including your student’s name, parent’s name, contact number and reason for your call. Your call will be returned if necessary.

Request Forms are available in the school office or on-line at www.haydenhigh.org/Counselors/counselorsfram.htm. Transcripts are mailed directly to colleges or businesses as requested. After graduation there is a $5.00 fee for each transcript ordered. While in high school, students are not charged for sending the first five transcripts to colleges or businesses; after the first five there will be a $1.00 charge for each transcript requested. A final (8 semester) transcript will be sent to the college of choice indicated by the graduate no later than the second week of June.
